Configure workspace settings

Authorized administrators can choose whether HICSNow displays time using a 12-hour or 24-hour clock. The setting changes how times are presented; it does not change the workspace or facility timezone, incident dates, or operational period boundaries.

Who can change the setting​

  • A Tenant Administrator manages the default for the entire workspace.
  • A Facility Administrator manages an override only for facilities they administer.
  • A regular User cannot open or change administrative settings.

When a facility does not have its own saved selection, it uses the workspace default. A Facility Administrator's saved 12-hour or 24-hour selection becomes the setting for that facility.

Set the workspace default​

Tenant Administrators use this workflow:

  1. Open the tenant administration dashboard.
  2. Under Configuration, select Settings.
  3. Under Time display, choose 12-hour time or 24-hour time.
  4. Review the example shown with the selected option.
  5. Select Save.

The saved choice becomes the default for the workspace. Existing facility-specific overrides remain in effect.

Set a facility override​

Facility Administrators use this workflow:

  1. Open the tenant administration dashboard.
  2. Under Configuration, select Settings.
  3. If you administer more than one facility, choose the facility from the Facility dropdown.
  4. Under Time display, choose 12-hour time to display times such as 2:30 PM or 24-hour time to display times such as 14:30.
  5. Select Save.

The override applies only to the selected facility. Repeat these steps for another facility when each location needs a different display format.

Where the format is used​

The effective time format appears in administrative activity and audit history, incident details, operational-period headers, operational timelines, incident and operational-period date-time controls, and other operational time displays.

For an incident, HICSNow uses the lead facility's override when one exists. Otherwise, it uses the workspace default.

Time format does not change the timezone

Switching between 12-hour and 24-hour time changes only the clock notation. HICSNow continues to use the configured workspace or facility timezone.

Common questions​

Why is Save unavailable?​

Save remains unavailable until the selected value differs from the current setting. Facility Administrators must also have an administered facility selected.

Why do I not see Settings?​

The Settings link is available only to an authorized Tenant Administrator or Facility Administrator. Ask a Tenant Administrator to review your user group and facility-administration assignment.

Why does another facility show a different clock format?​

Each facility can have its own saved selection. A facility without a saved selection follows the workspace default.
