Configure Command Centers
A Command Center is an approved physical or virtual location where Hospital Incident Command may be established. Every new incident requires an active Command Center.
Tenant Administrators can manage Command Centers throughout their organization. Facility Administrators can manage them for facilities they administer.
Open Command Centers
- Open Operational command.
- Select HICS Configuration.
- Select the facility you want to configure when more than one facility is available.
- Locate the Command Centers card.
Add a physical Command Center
- Select Add Command Center.
- Enter the Command Center name and Location.
- Select Physical.
- Complete the available address and contact details.
- Leave Command Center is active selected.
- Select Save.
Add a virtual Command Center
- Select Add Command Center.
- Enter the Command Center name and the virtual Location information responders need.
- Select Virtual.
- Leave Command Center is active selected.
- Select Save.
Do not place passwords, access tokens, or other secret credentials in Command Center details.
Edit, inactivate, or reactivate a Command Center
- Locate the Command Center and select Edit.
- Update the approved details or clear Command Center is active to make the location unavailable for new incidents.
- Select Save.
An inactive Command Center remains in incident history but is unavailable when creating a new incident. Incidents retain the Command Center details recorded when command was established. To make the location available again, select Edit, select Command Center is active, and save.
Delete a Command Center
- Locate the Command Center and select Edit.
- Select Delete in the Edit Command Center form.
- Review the permanent-deletion warning.
- Select Delete Command Center to confirm.
Only an unused Command Center can be deleted. A Command Center already used by an incident is retained for historical integrity and cannot be deleted. Make that Command Center inactive instead. HICSNow records a permitted deletion in audit history.
